#DRAW30PLANTS for March 2018

Hello everyone! I know that it’s been quite a while since I last posted something on the blog. My life has been quite a whirlwind and I am still adjusting to post-graduate life. Last month, I decided to do an art challenge for the first time by drawing 30 plants each day for the month of March. It was challenging but I loved every minute of it. I decided to use gouache as my main medium. So without further ado, here are my #Draw30plants artworks …

Travelling…

Hi everyone… sorry that I have been m.i.a. It has been crazy hectic at school and now we are getting ready to leave the country for an epic 3 week adventure in Asia. I will definitely be posting pictures on my instagram and a roundup about the trip in the next upcoming weeks.

Love you guys and I will see you soon

Color Palletes

Hi awesome people! Over the past few months I have noticed a slight development in the color palettes that I am choosing for my work. Whether its an illustration or a graphic design project, I tend to use the same colors over and over again. So here are some current color palettes that I’m LOVING! Please let me know your thoughts and comments and suggestions on what color combinations I should try next.

This week, I’ve been so lucky to have my mom visit me in Portland. I miss her so much! I hope that you will make time for the loved ones in your life this week!

Makeup Bag Monday Week #3

Happy Monday! It’s week #3 of Makeup Bag Monday, a series inspired by Serein Wu (a Youtuber and lifestyle blogger). This has helped me discover new products and also keep my collection in rotation.

The Face Shop Intense Cover Cushion is my first cushion foundation, and now, I’m obsessed with cushion foundations and can’t wait to try more. If you have any suggestions on a cushion foundation, please leave me a comment, I would love to know your favorites! The 100% Pure blush in mauvette is EXTREMELY pigmented, so I had to be extremely careful putting that color on my face. Both of the lippies were perfect for that “no-makeup” makeup look since they are neutral browns with a hint of warmth.

For this week’s makeup bag Monday, I wanted to try out a new foundation from Beautycounter that my friend Lisa (shop with her here) told me about. I also wanted to rock some red and brown eyeshadows to glam up my everyday look.

May 2017 Booklist: Creativity

Happy May everyone! In this month’s Booklist, I wanted to show you my top picks to help you get out of your creative rut. We all know that sometimes you need a little boost to keep your creative juices flowing and these books will definitely take you to new heights! So read away!

May2017booklist

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

This book has given me the creative push that I needed to jump start my blog. Elizabeth’s stories and words of wisdom has transformed the way I look at creativity and life.

The Little Spark by Carrie Bloomston

Having met Carrie in person, she is my biggest inspiration. Her book will give you amazing tips on how to get that “spark” when you feel lost in your creative practice. This is a must read!

Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon

Looking at this title, you’re probably thinking… what? If you “steal” doesn’t that mean you’re unoriginal? Well, the truth is, nothing is really original. YOU are the one that makes it original!

Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud

I freakin’ LOVE this book. To be honest, I have not read comics or manga in a while (since I’m currently buried in text books) and didn’t think too much of them. But Scott will change your preconceived notions and open your eyes to a whole new world of what it means to be a “comic.”

Spectrum Collection Brushes

Today, I will be reviewing these makeup brushes that are perfect for unicorns and mermaids alike! Spectrum Collection Brushes is a UK-based, cruelty-free, and vegan brush company.

You can probably tell why I love these brushes… I mean, it matches my Cinderella x Lazy Oaf Dress! (Please ignore my messy hair)

All of the Spectrum Collection brushes are made with high quality synthetic hair so no unicorns are harmed in the making. The brush hair colors do not bleed when you first wash them and they have held up pretty well since I’ve gotten them about 6 months ago. The signature pink handled brushes are my everyday staple and I prefer using all of my Spectrum Collection brushes dry rather than with liquids since I like using sponges or my hands to apply cream products. Spectrum2

Spectrum A04: This is the perfect highlighting brush

Spectrum C04: This brush is great when used with contour powders or bronzers

Spectrum B01: My favorite foundation brush for full coverage

Spectrum B02: This dome brush is perfect for buffing mineral foundation

Spectrum C03: I really like using this brush for blush

I also have the beautiful Glam Clam set with 10 brushes and an adorable lilac clam brush case. CUTE right? For this set, I feel that the quality of the brush hairs and ferrel are comparable to their individual brushes.

If you are interested in these brushes, I would suggest buying one of the sets to get the best bang for your buck! I have my eye on the Ultimate Unicorn Goals 30-piece Set for my birthday!

Makeup Bag Monday Week #2

Happy Monday! It’s week #2 of Makeup Bag Monday, a series inspired by Serein Wu (a Youtuber and lifestyle blogger). This is a great way to encourage people to rotate their makeup collection and try new things every week.

For my complexion, I really liked the 100% Pure 2nd Skin foundation but it was a little too drying on my skin for the cold weather in Portland, so I might bring this back in the warmer months. As for the highlight, Peach Goddess by Jeffree Star is just so freakin’ gorgeous on light-medium warm skin-tone (definitely recommend!). For eyes, I fell in LOVE with the Beautycounter mascara. It’s absolutely amazing for lengthening your lashes, but be warned, it’s a drier formula. For lips, the Mizzu Velvet Lip Matte actually made my lips peel off and bled a little since it was SO drying…. but…. I love the color. So it’s an ongoing love and hate relationship.

Now let’s get on with this week’s Makeup Bag Monday! I am really into the simple look “no makeup” look lately, so this week’s makeup bag is pretty simple! I wanted to accentuate my lashes and glowing cheeks for Springtime.

Kartini Day

KartiniDay

This illustration is in honor of our Indonesian heroine, Raden Ajeng Kartini. I originally created this illustration in a different coloring for my local campus event and decided to “pink-it” up!

If you’re unfamiliar with Kartini, she was a pioneer in the area of education for girls and women’s rights for Indonesia back in the late 19th century. While she lived to be only 25, she has inspired thousands of women to fight for our rights!

Projects and Progress

Over the past five or six years, I have been struggling to really find my “style.” But this year, I am determined to find what I love and who I am as an artist. Here are some of the projects that I have been working on for the past few weeks… enjoy… and let me know if you have any questions!

This is a start of a new Indonesian series I’m working on, so stay tuned!
